The Emperor Scorpion's central nervous system consists of a brain and ventral nerve cord. The brain is composed of two large ganglia that surround the esophagus. The nerve cord runs the length of the scorpion. The upper lobe of the top ganglion processes optic information and complex behaviors. The lower lobe controls normal body functions. Locomotion is controlled by both ganglia. It is one of the largest arachnids in the world.
